Significant Investor Visa Regulations Have Changed

Effective 1st July 2015, the regulations for qualifying for a Significant Investor Visa (SIV) have changed.

There is now a requirement for SIV applicants to invest a minimum of AU$500,000.00 in one or more Venture Capital or Growth Personal Equity funds as specified in the Migration Instrument.

There are now two categories of visa, the enhanced SIV and new Premium Investor Visa (PIV).

The amended legislation introduces the new complying investment framework for the SIV and PIV and provides Austrade with the authority to nominate applicants for the SIV, alongside State and Territory governments, and act as the sole nominator for the PIV.

The migration regulations can be accessed here.
